ST. PETERS COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAM AT A GLANCE

A Distinct Identity

The mission of our outreach program is to address the root causes of poverty through recognizing everyone’s inherent worth and dignity. We seek to help everyone realize their value through acts that help them restore their ability to care for themselves and those they care for.

VOLUNTEER

Bringing Change

We welcome all ages in our group. In the past, St. Peter's has also partnered with Girl Scout's groups and other kids within our church and volunteer families help pack our ready to go bags. More recently, we have been inviting Marshall student's to join our Marshall Volunteer Program as Marshall campus falls in our distribution areas. There is a place for everyone to volunteer with our program.

SPECIFIC VOLUNTEER PROGRAMS

Touching every ground of Outreach

St. Peter's Outreach offers a variety of programs created through partnerships. Our Naloxone Program focuses on harm reduction, the Marshall Volunteer Program focuses on bringing together students to make change, the Community Garden partners with recovery clients in the Cabell County area to allow everyone to give back and work on a community project. Our program also offers meal distributions, community clean-ups, and more in the Cabell County area.

FIGHTING HOMELESSNESS

Mobile Distributions

A "Mobile Distro" is when volunteers gather with ready to go bags for a quick, mass distributions. Items volunteers hand out include gloves, blankets, hats, PPE, and something to eat. Mobile distros are ideal for those who are sleeping on the street, so volunteers drive or ride along to help pass out items throughout the night or day.

FIGHTING HUNGER

Meal Distributions

Meal Distributions involve volunteers setting up  and distributing food on the streets in Huntington. Mobile feeds are important to the community around our church and those who attend other community service programs. St. Peter's has done feeds at the following places in Huntington: Harmony House, St. Peter's Episcopal Church First Steps, and ReBuild. St. Peter's has also partnered with Huntington Addiction Wellness Center (HAWC), who makes the food that is distributed. We are currently doing a meal distributions every Thursday this month at Harmony House!

"Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes or daily food. If one says to them, 'Go in peace; keep warm and fed,' but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?"
